Five Reasons It's Time to Make Your Website Mobile-Friendly

Wednesday, May 27, 2015

If you’ve been avoiding making your organization’s website mobile-friendly, now may be the time to reconsider. We know it takes time, money and talent to make this happen, but here are five reasons why it’s worth the investment.

  1. Mobile devices are now more popular than desktop for accessing the internet, so having a mobile-friendly (responsive) website is now critical for nonprofits of all sizes.
  2. Mobile-friendly sites eliminate the need to pinch and pull to zoom in. This results in easier navigation and longer user engagement on your site.
  3. Most people use social media on smartphones. If you are posting and linking to your website, you frustrate your users every time you take them to a non-responsive site.
  4. Half of all email is read on a phone and most e-newsletter templates are now mobile-friendly. Make it seamless for your readers to access website content from your e-newsletter and eliminate the dreaded pinch and pull once and for all.
  5. Google recently changed how search results are ranked when you’re on a mobile device. If your site is not mobile-friendly, it may appear lower in the search results.
